Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif shared that the federal government has decided to close markets and restaurants across the country by 8 PM in a bid to conserve energy, according to news published on December 20.

A federal cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif and it was decided to close the markets and restaurants by 8 PM and banquet halls by 10 PM as a new energy conservation plan was unveiled.

The news source stated that markets shut down by 6 PM in the rest of the world while in Pakistan it stays open beyond midnight. Defence Minister Asif disclosed that the timings of the restaurant might be extended an hour or so. It was mentioned that the policy will be finalised on Thursday after consultation with other provinces.
