Kalaya: Markets in lower Orakzai tribal district were closed following a failure to install CCTV cameras, a news report stated. The district government took this action as CCTV cameras were required to deal with the existing security situation. The authorities had urged the local shopkeepers to install CCTV cameras in order to monitor the movement of any suspected elements.

According to the traders, the district government closed down Mishti Maila, Sanghra, and Ferozkhel markets, along with other bazaars in Orakzai. The shopkeepers are finding it difficult to install the cameras due to high expenses. One shopkeeper commented that a single camera can cost between PKR 15,000 and PKR 25,000, and it will also incur the cost of electricity. He added that they could not afford that price and did not have electricity to run the devices either.
The order of installing CCTV cameras had been issued by the district government following the bomb blast in Kalaya that left 33 people dead and 56 injured.
