Mansehra: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Irrigation Minister Arshad Ayub on Tuesday (January 17) inaugurated a 300-kilowatt (kW) Kotkay small hydropower project in Mansehra, news sources reported.

The project will be completed with an estimated budget of PKR 2 billion. Speaking with the media, the minister said that the project is expected to irrigate huge swatches of barren lands in the hilly areas and will be important for the overall power production in the country. He also highlighted that the project will be completed at the earliest and will be completed with the help of international donors.

It is important to note that the Kotkay small hydropower project is part of the five small dam projects launched with the help of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other international donors focused on providing potable water for the far-flung areas of the KP. The other hydropower projects include; 500kW Baila Manoor, 400kw Biyari Manoor, 300kw Rajwal and 150kw Dum Duma small hydropower project.
