Karachi: Sindh Minister for Forests Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Monday revealed that the ministry had conducted a mangroves plantation campaign in the coastal areas of Sindh, a news source reported. The minister added that they had planted over two billion mangroves in various coastal areas, which have also been computerised for the first time in the history of Pakistan.

The minister paid a visit to the coastal areas of Thatta district, including Keti Bandar. He highlighted that the large-scale mangroves plantation was an important initiative of the provincial government. He added that this measure would generate a revenue worth PKR 10 billion, which would be spent on the welfare of the locals.

Shah revealed that the ministry completed the task of planting the mangroves as per the directions of Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. He added that the ministry was continuing the task of planting urban forests in different cities of the province.
