Rawalpindi: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mahmood emphasised the need for increasing the water tariffs by up to 300 per cent, according to a news report. Water tariffs haven’t been increased in almost ten years and this is placing the agency and its employees under financial stress, Mahmood explained.
According to the report, WASA Workers Union Chairman Raja Javed Hussain also agreed with the MD’s call. The only way out of the situation, they stressed, was for either the government to increase the subsidy for the agency or for water tariffs to be increased.
