Karachi: Ministers of the Sindh government have said that the successful completion of the ongoing bidding process for the Malir Expressway would allow authorities to begin development work on the scheme by October, a news source reported. This is another project being undertaken by local bodies in a bid to enhance traffic-related infrastructure in Karachi.

The expressway is planned as a three lane, 38.75 kilometres long road, from Kathore in Malir, to Jam Sadiq Bridge. It will be connected to the interior parts of Sindh via its link to the M9 at the Superhighway.

The government of Sindh is working to quickly make arrangements for the construction of the project, in order to facilitate commuters to and from the suburbs of Karachi to the main commercial areas in the city. It will also facilitate the transportation of cargo between the seaport and industrial areas.
