Karachi: Malir Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gahanwer Ali Laghari has written letters to the district officials to identify and document illegal housing schemes in the district, news sources reported on February 20. The DC directed Assistant Commissioners (AC), Mukhtiarkar, and police officers to file a First Investigation Report (FIR) against all illegal housing schemes administrators.

According to reports, the DC directed authorities in two separate letters to identify unlawful housing projects in the district and to initiate proceedings against the proprietors of the schemes and land grabbers under the Sindh Public Property, Removal of Encroachment Act 2010. He encouraged officials to take strong measures against land grabbers who sold government land to villagers on a 30-year lease. The letter instructed the authorities to take strict and coordinated action against any schemes that deceive individuals in the area.

The letter also said that people have been complaining about the mushroom growth of the illegal housing schemes in the area. Such schemes must be combated by the officials in charge in the region. The letter further cautioned the public not to invest in any such scams.
