Karachi: Ranhill Holdings Berhad, a Malaysian conglomerate known for its services in water treatment and the environment sector, has offered its services in providing water and waste water treatment sector in Karachi, reported a news source. In a meeting held earlier this week with Sindh Board of Investment Chairman Naheed Memon, a delegation representing the company shared details on the services the company has provided in Malaysia.
The treatment of waste water and provision of drinking water is a huge problem in Karachi. While the Water Commission formed on orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan is working to fix the issues, the experience of this Malaysian firm can be availed in this regard, according to Memon.
Reportedly, Memon has asked the firm to share its plan so that Karachi Water and Sewerage Board can work on forming a private-public partnership for providing drinking water to the residents of Karachi, treating the waste water and fixing the sewerage issues in the city.
