Islamabad: The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Tax Bar Association (RITBA) has asked that appellate tribunals be made functional, according to a news report. The statement said that due to delay in decisions on tax cases, revenue of PKR 1260 billion is inaccessible.
Out of the PKR 1260 billion, PKR 400 billion are held in cases pending before appellate tribunals and PKR 260 billion are pending before commissioner appeals. The statement further said that if these issues are resolved, these will improve the relations between FBR and business community and resolve the outstanding issues for government and businesses as well.
Inland Revenue department has only one appellate tribunal, and because of lack of judicial members, it is inoperative.
