Lahore: Major markets in the provincial capital on Monday resumed their business following the government-announced ease in coronavirus lockdown restrictions after a one-and-a-half month period, a news source reported. As per a notification issued by the Punjab government, educational institutions and shopping malls are to remain closed until further notice.

Trading activities resumed in several markets across Lahore. These included Liberty, Mall Road, Anarkali, Hall Road, Icchra, Urdu Bazaar, Township Market, Abid Market, Shah Alam Market, Defense, Macleod Road, Brandreth Road, and Circular Road.
The notification for the ease in coronavirus lockdown in the province stated that barbershops, gymnasiums, and beauty parlours would open four days a week. It added that grocery stores, general stores, and tandoors would open between 9 am and 5 pm all week.

From Friday to Sunday, the province would remain under complete lockdown, the notification indicated. Meanwhile, public transport facilities, sports activities, marriage halls, marquees, and concerts are to remain closed till May 31.
The Punjab government has also allowed small shops and markets to resume business activities on the condition that their owners follow the SOPs issued.
