Karachi: Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar reviewed the precarious conditions of Liaquatabad 10, Nazimabad Gol Market, and Frere Market on 24th May 2018 and said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) can’t maintain these places with such low rent, according to a news report. He also took notice of the stationary buses and vans parked under Liaquatabad Flyover and illegally constructed shops and cabins. Akhtar added that all constructions and shops other than the ones in the original plan of Frere Market and Nazimabad Gol Market would be removed, and Frere Market would be restored to its former glory.
Mayor Akhtar along with his dignitaries also visited a heatstroke camp in Liaquatabad 10 and urged the utility services providers like K-Electric and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and water to help people fight the heat.
