Islamabad: The Ministry of Communication has announced that the M-6 project (Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway) will be included in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025-26, with funding support from international financial institutions.
The M-6 project is a significant infrastructure development aimed at improving national connectivity and road safety. The project, which will be completed in five phases, is scheduled to begin soon. The standing committee of the National Assembly on Communications, chaired by Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, MNA, reviewed the project during a recent meeting, focusing on key initiatives to enhance the country’s transportation network.

The M-6 Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway is of critical strategic and economic importance, and its development is expected to significantly boost connectivity between the cities of Sukkur and Hyderabad. The Ministry of Communication has confirmed that work on the project will commence shortly, marking a major step toward improving road infrastructure in Pakistan.
The committee also discussed concerns related to tolling practices along the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9), stressing the need for fair and transparent toll collection processes. Measures to address these issues, along with plans for improved traffic management at toll plazas, are expected to be implemented in the near future.

Additionally, the ministry has confirmed that the Ranipur-Moro project, which has faced delays, is progressing, with 53 percent of the physical work completed. A six-month extension has been granted for the project, with an expected inauguration in December 2025.
