Islamabad: The Lahore-Abdul Hakeem (Khanewal) section of M-3 will be made operational by February 15 – a news source reported.
An official of the National Highway Authority (NHA) said that labour work on the section has been completed. He added that the project had to be delayed for some time due to certain technical issues.

According to NHA, the section will be equipped with a state-of-the-art and intelligent transportation system (ITS). This system has been designed to efficiently handle emergencies and reduce accidents. NHA also plans to install fibre-optic cables, LED screens, and electronic toll collection booths on this road section.
National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Jawwad Rafique Malik was previously briefed on the progress by project consultant Abdul Basit and China Railway 20 CEO Li Jieyong.

Meanwhile, labour work on the Gojra-Shorkot is almost complete. This section of the Faisalabad-Multan Motorway will also be made operational next month.
