Lahore: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Managing Director Rao Imtiaz Ahmad recently announced that the authority had cleared over 5,800 tons of waste from the city — with their efforts also helping in clearing the backlog of waste around the different areas of Lahore, a news source reported.

In regards to continuing the ‘Zero Waste Operation’ in Lahore, LWMC Chairman and MD visited various areas in the city to personally ensure the effectiveness of the campaign. They visited Johar Town, Thokar Niaz Baig, Rehmanpura, Faisal Town, Shahdara, Sabzazar, Shad Bagh, Badami Bagh, Gulberg, Gol Bagh, Dharampura, Shadman, Harbanspura, Mughalpura, Wahga Town, Darogawala, GarhiShahu, Ferozepur Road, Makkah Colony, Abbot Road, Mozang, and Icchara.
The MD ordered the company staff to remain in the field until the successful completion of the operation. He added that they must ensure the timely lifting of waste from every nook and corner of the city. Highlighting that the maintenance of the city’s cleanliness was their top priority, the MD stated that they had made sure to collect the waste in an environmentally friendly manner.
MD Ahmad said that LWMC would not disappoint the citizens and it would complete the operation successfully. He directed the officers to comply strictly with the requirements of the ongoing operation and resolve all public complaints.

Additionally, the MD urged the public to play its role in the proper disposal of solid waste. He revealed that citizens could always call the LWMC helpline ‘1139’ to register waste-related complaints. They can also use the mobile application ‘Clean Lahore’, he added.
