Lahore: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has devised and finalised a cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Azha.
According to a news source, the cleanliness plan was finalised in a meeting of the officials concerned on August 31 with LWMC Chairman and Adviser to the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Khawaja Ahmad Hassan in the chair.
Reportedly, Turkish contractors AlBayrak and OzPak will also be working in collaboration with the LWMC to implement the cleanliness plan, which comprises a three-phase strategy divided in the ‘before’, ‘during’, and ‘after’ Eid periods.
The measures to be taken before Eid include the assignment of workers and machinery at the animal markets designated by the district government, distribution of customised waste bags and spreading general awareness regarding operational procedures.
During Eid, emphasis will be on addressing complaints and assigning appropriate dumping areas for offal.
After Eid, the workers will attempt to make the city clean and take initiatives to protect the environment from any hazardous impacts of the offal.
The news source reported further that the preparations had begun for the implementation of a cleanliness plan as Punjab Chief Minister Mr Shahbaz Sharif had stressed better cleanliness services during Eid days.
