Lahore: Punjab Local Government & Community Development (LG&CD) Department Secretary Syed Mubasher Hussain visited Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and instructed all cleanliness departments to conduct studies on climate change impact and accordingly shape their respective strategies, according to news published on September 09.

During the visit, Secretary Syed Mubasher Hussain met with LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rafia Haider and received a briefing report on the company’s performance. Moreover, the secretary also ordered the department to expedite the land purchase process for the establishment of a new landfill site in Kasur. He instructed for compost being prepared at compost plants to be readily registered and marketed.

Mr Hussain also stressed for the sanitation departments to coordinate with housing schemes and improve the overall cleanliness situation of the city. He opined on the need to focus on waste-to-energy projects alongside garbage collection and deposit mechanisms.
