Following the approval of the act, the LWMC would be separated from the Municipal Corporation of Lahore (MCL), with additional enforcement powers granted to enforcement inspectors to handle public sanitation problems.
Currently, LWMC is under MCL and draws most of the power related to the public sanitation problems from within the framework provided by MCL. Moreover, after the enforcement of the LWMA Act-2021, the authority would have the powers to develop standards, procedures, processes, and guidelines for the collection, disposal, and management of solid waste, to levy fees for registration, licencing of solid waste collection and disposal, and other services.
