Lahore: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has announced a special package worth PKR 50 million for sanitary workers operating in the city, a news source reported.

LWMC Chairman Riaz Hameed Chaudhry has lauded the performance of the sanitary workers during the coronavirus outbreak and informed that they were working on the front line in combat against the novel coronavirus.

Hameed said that the LWMC had supplied the workers with the necessary equipment; especially gloves, masks, and other gear to protect them from potential infection. The LWMC is also washing the main roads and crossings in Lahore.

LWMC Managing Director Rao Imtiaz Ahmad has directed the workers to disinfect the areas close to flats in Faisal Town.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) conducted a disinfection drive in the public spaces. To this effect, the department squad sprayed disinfectants at Mall Road, Istanbul Chowk, Regal Chowk, Hall Road, Lahore High Court (LHC), and various bus stands of the city.
