Lahore: The Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has started its planning for the modernisation of the public transport system, a news source reported. The reforms introduced by LTC have already resulted in the provision of quality facilities for the public on various urban routes in the city.
In 2018, LTC’s enforcement department took active steps against violations of public transport laws. These included the concerns of over-charging, as well as the lack of fitness certificates and route permits. Throughout the year, a total of 147,000 vehicles were booked in the city for legal road violations.
9,756 old and disabled citizens were issued free transport cards during the year under various corporate social responsibility initiatives. 5,058 students of public schools, colleges and universities also availed discounted transportation facilities through their student green cards – issued by the LTC in the past year.
LTC is also helping to develop a transport system in Narowal, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the LTC and the Narowal District Council for the purpose in 2018.
