Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar approved the construction of the Southern Loop III of Lahore Ring Road, a news source reported. This will connect Lahore Ring Road to Multan Road and reduce the travel time for commuters.

In the meeting of the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) and Lahore Ring Road Council (LRRC), the CM also approved of beginning the land acquisition for Southern Loop IV project. Other agendas of the meeting were as follows:
- Approval of LRRC’s budget for 2018 to 2019
- Upgrading scale of junior patrolling officers from Grade-9 to Grade-11 according to relevant laws
- Rationalisation of LRRA’s posts to save over PKR 45 million
Buzdar stressed that the said project should be completed through public-private partnership. He also urged the officials towards further extension of this partnership model. Additionally, he directed the meeting participants to resolve the project’s technical issues and ensure transparent bidding.

Attending another meeting of the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), Buzdar urged the officials to expand the said authority’s scope. He said that it should be expanded to other cities.
He shared the current government’s vision for development of the tourism sector with a sustainable approach. He said that restoring historic buildings to their original shape will attract tourists. In addition to developing Hiran Minar as a tourist spot, Buzdar approved the conducting of festivals for highlighting Punjab’s history and culture.
