Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was informed on Thursday that a small liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminal and storage facility has been established at the Gwadar Port – a news source reported.

A meeting to this effect took place in Islamabad. Senators Khushbakht Shujaat, Moula Bux Chandio, Muhammad Akram, Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, Joint Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Shazia Rizvi, and Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Dostain Khan Jamaldini were all present at the occasion.
The participants were informed that the LPG terminal would become operational within one month. The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) is also working on building a desalination plant. This proposed facility would produce five million gallons of desalinated water per day after completion.
Moreover, plans are in place to establish an air-mix LPG plant. This proposed facility will be established in the GPA Business Complex on a public-private partnership basis.

The committee was informed that the matter pertaining to tax exemptions for Chinese companies working in Gwadar is being pursued with the Balochistan government.
