Karachi: Sindh Minister for Local Government (LG) Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has announced that a low-cost housing project would soon be launched in Surjani, a news source reported. The planned project will feature residential apartments for middle class occupants.

The LG minister shared this information while presiding over a meeting of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Governing Body yesterday (January 9). He further stated that the flat units in the said scheme would be allocated via a transparent balloting process.

Shah also mentioned that the Sindh governmentwas preparing a comprehensive plan to improve the lifestyle of the middle and lower-middle classes in the province – stating that the results of these efforts would be visible soon. He directed the KDA staff to remove all encroachments from the public parks and play grounds under its jurisdiction; in order to make them fully conducive to people’s recreational pursuits.

The KDA staff also briefed the minister on the measures being taken to remove encroachments from various public spaces and government land. They further revealed that the recently retrieved land in Korangi Sector would would be offered on auction soon.
