Islamabad: The annual ‘Lok Mela’ event of the National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) is all set to begin today, according to news sources. As per officials, the festival is scheduled to take place at the Lok Virsa Complex (Garden Avenue) in Islamabad’s Shakarparian locality.
As per details, the event is expected to feature cultural pavilions, artisans display, exotic craft bazaar, folk music, dance performances, and several other activities – highlighting the rich culture of the four provinces as well as Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

The traditional festival, keeping with the four-decade-old custom, will formally open with a chadarposhi/dastarbandi ceremony. This custom is Lok Virsa’s proclamation that they hold craftspeople and artists in highest esteem. Minister for Federal Education, Professional Training, National History & Literary Heritage Shafqat Mahmood will preside over honorary ceremony this year.

All provincial, authentic cuisine flavours will also be available for the people to enjoy. The entry ticket is priced at PKR 50.
