Quetta: The Balochistan government has announced its decision to extend the lockdown period till May 5 in the wake of an increasing number of coronavirus cases within the province, according to news sources. This extension was announced by the Balochistan Home Department through an official notification.

However, the provincial executive has allowed small traders (shops and industries) to continue with their daily business activity by following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) – recently issued by the government to contain the COVID-19 spread.

To this effect, the government has stated that SOP violators would face legal action. Previously, the government had sealed three shopping centres and 200 shops in Quetta for violating official directives and arrested 56 people.
Moreover, according to the Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan’s official Twitter account, the provincial death tally has reached six and there are 298 active cases.
