According to the details available, the dualisation project had been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council back in March 2018. The project had been awarded under the title of “Dualisation of Rawalpindi-Sihala-Kahutr Road” by the National Highway Authority in April 2018.
However, no progress has been made on the project in the two years since — with the venture facing trouble in obtaining relevant approvals from the Planning & Development Ministry. According to the publication, this delay has caused the cost of the project to rise.

The locals have appealed to the PM to take notice and help relaunch the stalled project, as it is expected to be highly beneficial for the residents of the area.
