Lahore: A paint company has initiated the plantation of 1,000 saplings at LDA Avenue-I’s central park as part of Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) plantation drive in the city, a news source reported. The company has identified the central park as part of the LDA’s campaign, titled ‘Ayen Lahore Sarsabz Banayen’.

The central park is located in the civic centre of the LDA Avenue-I housing scheme between the F and H blocks, and spans over an area of 100 kanals. The paint company has taken over the responsibility of protecting these plants and maintenance of the park.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the plantation drive, LDA Vice Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Imran stated that planting trees was essential for the environment and a need of the hour. He added that the participation of the private sector was a positive development for this purpose.

Also present at the occasion, LDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Usman Muazzam said that planting trees was not just the responsibility of the government department, but of every individual as well. He added that each person should plant a tree to play their role in the provision of a clean and healthy environment.
