Mansehra: The local administration has commenced with the acquisition process of more than 9,000 acres of land for Dasu hydropower project’s construction – a news source quoted Upper Kohistan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Arif Khan Yousafzai as saying.

The DC, during a press briefing, stated that he had been settling all the issues impeding the land acquisition process in the Upper Kohistan district in collaboration with the local Jirga.
He informed the media that 730 acres of land had been acquired for the project so far. He expressed his hope that the hydropower project would improve the socioeconomic conditions of the residents and help address the power shortage in the county.
The federal cabinet recently gave its approval for the construction of the Dasu Dam; which is expected to be completed at a cost of PKR 520 billion. Previously, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) had sanctioned the dam’s construction.
