Rawalpindi: Responding to the directives issued by the Punjab Home Department, Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (R) Anwar-Ul-Haq on Wednesday confirmed the names of the businesses allowed to resume operations during the extended lockdown period; along with those ordered to remain shut, a news source reported. As per the publication, the home department had earlier provided comprehensive notification to this effect; with the commissioner serving to provide further verification of the reopening schedule.

The notification states that the rise in coronavirus cases poses a major threat to the public; making it mandatory for the authorities concerned to ensure that all safety measures are in place to prevent the virus from spreading further.

While speaking to the media, the commissioner stated that his office would follow the notified directives and take strict action against the businesses and individuals violating the lockdown. In addition, he revealed that the following businesses/facilities would remain shut during the lockdown period:
- Markets
- Shopping malls
- Marriage halls
- Restaurants
- Public parks and places
- Gymnasiums
- Educational institutes
- Cinemas
- Snooker clubs
- Intercity, intra-city and inter-province public transport
On the other hand, the businesses that have been allowed to become operational once again include the following:
- Tailors
- Welders
- Dry cleaners
- Barbers
- Hardware shops
- Electricians
- Mechanics
- Engine oil and filters change setups
- Beauty parlours
- Tyre puncture shops
- Auto shops
