The project, which commenced in December 2022, involves the construction of a 5.5 km road along with an interchange. Originally slated for completion by June 20, 2023, the project faced delays
Additionally, Member Engineering expressed optimism regarding the expansion and widening of the Islamabad Expressway from Koral Interchange to T-chowk, with expectations for completion by June 2024. The acceleration of construction activities on-site by the contractor has been noted as a contributing factor towards this goal.
The ongoing construction of the 5.5 km road from sector D-12, where Margalla Avenue terminates, to Khayaban-i-Iqbal in E-11, encompasses the development of a flyover and interchange at E-11. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity within the capital.

Margalla Avenue, spanning approximately 10 km from G.T. Road to D-12, has witnessed significant usage by motorists. However, commuters encounter challenges upon reaching D-12, necessitating the extension of the road to E-11 and Khayaban-e-Iqbal. Consequently, construction efforts were initiated by the CDA in December of the previous year to address this issue.
Moreover, the CDA has also announced plans for the construction of 11th Avenue, which will further integrate with the aforementioned road projects. However, the commencement of construction on this avenue is pending as of now.
