Lahore: Punjab Governor Chaudhary Sarwar issued an ordinance to amend the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Act 1975 – according to which, the authority’s jurisdictional control has been lifted from Kasur, Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura, a news source reported today.
Reportedly, the ordinance has been issued as an acknowledgement of the demand put forth by several provincial ministers, members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) and the public. Speaking to the media, the governor said that the MPAs, ministers and residents of these districts had been constantly demanding to be removed from the LDA’s jurisdiction.

In addition to this, the governor has issued another ordinance regarding the establishment of commercial courts in five districts of Punjab including Lahore. According to this ordinance, commercial cases pending in other courts will be transferred to these new commercial courts. The new courts will decide the case within 180 days.
