As disclosed by the source, this decision emerged during a subsequent meeting convened to evaluate the advancement of ongoing development projects in the city. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Local Government Secretary Manzoor Shaikh apprised CM Baqar of their inspection of the four-story structure housing Liaquatabad Super Market, spanning approximately one acre and accommodating around 900 occupants.
Mayor Wahab conveyed to the CM that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) generated a modest revenue of PKR 5.3 million from the 700 shops within the market. CM Baqar proposed the creation of a high-rise residential and commercial complex, either funded through the provincial government’s budget or a public-private partnership (PPP).
