Lahore: The water commission formed by the Lahore High Court recently held a meeting to review and evaluate the reports on efforts for conservation of water received from various government departments on Thursday – a news source reported.
The meeting was held at the office of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA). WASA Managing Director (MD) Syed Zahid Aziz and the representatives of other government departments were also present duri the meeting.

Lahore High Court Justice Shahid Karim had formed the judicial commission under the supervision of Justice (r) Ali Akbar Qureshi earlier this year to take the necessary measures for the purpose. The judicial commission in collaboration with 14 other institutes has taken important steps for the conservation of water.
The main objectives of this commission are to manage water reservoirs, conservation of water, to generate revenue for non- revenue water, to improve treatment of water, and to stop water theft.
The meeting was informed that WASA had begun the inspection of the service stations and disconnected the water supply to individuals without a water recycling system.
These service stations had been issued notices and given a two months’ period for installing the recycling plants for the conservation of water.
The meeting was further told that the current steps have helped save as much as 260,000 gallons of water on a daily basis.
