In addition, the LHC — which was presided over by Justice Shahid Karim — asked the government to file a compliance report that proved that all environmental protection measures were implemented in the development of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP). The Justice had previously also sought reports from both the provincial and federal bodies regarding the compliance of environmental regulations in the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project.

Meanwhile, the court was appraised by the judicial water and environmental commission that 38.72% of the brick kilns in Punjab had shifted to zigzag technology in a bid to control smog. Reportedly, several industrial units have also been sealed and their owners have been booked for violating the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)’s directions regarding smoke emissions.
