Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC)has asked the Government of Punjab for explanation on its notification issued to collect Superstructure Tax on vacant plots in the rural and urban areas, according to a news report. The LHC Justice Muhammad Farrukh was listening to a case filed by residents, requesting the court to revoke Superstructure Tax.
Representing the petitioners, Advocate Sajid Bashir Sheikh said that according to the law, the government can only impose 5% Stamp Duty on plots in urban areas and 3% Stamp Duty on land in rural areas.
