As per the publication, the court gave these directives while hearing a case filed against the concerned government authorities that failed to re-plant new trees in place of the trees they cut down.

The complainant informed the court that due to a lack of interest in planting new trees to replace old ones, Lahore was witnessing a stark rise in air pollution. In response to these allegations, the court ordered the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to plant new trees across the city and expressed its anger over the existing situation. In addition, the LHC also asked the PHA to share additional details about the trees that had been felled during the last 10 years to construct new road avenues.
