Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sought a report from the environmental department over its steps to control smog, according to news sources.
Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh expressed displeasure at the current situation of smog in the city, while hearing a petition highlighting the department’s failure to control smog which is not only increasing every day, but also causing different diseases.

Justice Mamoon also sought details of the measures exercised to prevent smog. He expressed annoyance at learning that the department had only initiated smog-control measures in November.

The court was also informed that sulphur component in the substandard petrol is also causing diseases, to which court remarked that proper steps should be taken to control the situation.
