Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Jawad Hassan has instructed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to ensure the provision of basic utilities on Multan Motorway, a news source reported. He gave this order in response to a series of petitions which he heard on Wednesday.

He observed that the Multan Motorway lacked rest and prayer room facilities. He also mentioned that the NHA had yet to submit a satisfactory response to the concerns raised by the petitioners in their pleas.
Justice Hassan mentioned that the provision of civic facilities at public places was the state’s responsibility; as enshrined in Article 26 of the constitution. He expressed concern on the non-availability of prayer facilities on the said road network.

Moreover, he instructed senior NHA officials to submit a satisfactory reply to these concerns and provide a timeframe with regard to the provision of these amenities.
