Lahore: Noting an alleged unapproved change in the design of the Lahore Ring Road (LRR) Southern Loop (SL)-III route, the Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a stay order on its land acquisition, a news source reported. To this effect, the court sent notices to Punjab government, the LRR Authority, and other authorities concerned.

LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan issued the stay order on the 5-kanal land acquisition while hearing a petition that stated an alleged design change in LRR SL-III route had affected the petitioner and others. The court also formed a commission and asked for a report on the matter during the next hearing.
On the other hand, the petitioner has requested the court to keep the stay order for LRR SL-III route until a final decision on the said petition. The LHC bench after hearing the initial arguments issued notices to the respondents concerned.

Earlier, the LRR Authority and the National Logistics Cell (NLC) had signed an agreement for the construction of the SL-III of the project.
