Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Department informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) on December 17 that 6,900 acres of land belonging to the forest department had been retrieved from Punjab Assembly Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani.
Reportedly, the petition against the illegal possession of the land was filed by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) MPA Sardar Ali Raza and Chief Settlement Commissioner Dr Saqib Aziz.
According to a news source, officials from the revenue department appeared before the court regarding the case, who presented a written report which stated that 6,900 acres of land had been retrieved from the PA deputy speaker and the remaining part would be retrieved soon. The matter of transferring possession of the land to the forest department will soon be decided by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali directed the revenue department to submit another report regarding the recovery of the remaining land by February 11.
