The citizen’s PLI argued that the sustainability and security of millions of people’s food supply are being jeopardized by the illegal and unchecked growth of illegal housing schemes. In his petition, the litigant expressed his concern over the regulatory agencies and the affected quarter’s apparent inaction in stopping the construction of unauthorized housing projects on arable land. After listening to the opening argument, the LHC bench issued an order directing the additional advocate general to submit paragraph-by-paragraph comments and a comprehensive report from the Punjab Secretary of Local Government and Community Development and the DG of PHATPA by February 22, 2023.
