Lahore: Lahore High Court Justice Shahid Karim has terminated the Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s policy to penalise the owners of vacant plots. Reportedly, he was hearing a case filed by a citizen who received LDA’s notice to pay fine for keeping his plot vacant.
According to details, Karim said that this policy is against the basic human rights and law prohibits the civic authority from imposing such fines. He further said that the LDA Act 75 extends no right to the authority to penalise plot owners.
During the proceeding, the court was told that the policy was formed in 1993 on orders of the Punjab government, to which Karim said that the LDA Act has no room for this policy.
