Lahore: Hearing a case on water conservation, Lahore High Court has instructed Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to place a ban on practice of washing cars with hosepipes, reported a news source. In the written order issued from Justice Shahid Karim, the Government of Punjab has been asked to share its plan on stopping water wastage and conserving it.

According to details, WASA and LDA has been instructed to place a ban on this practice in the first phase and then launch a campaign to educate masses against washing cars with hose. The court order further stated that citizens should instead be encouraged to wash their cars by using water in the bucket.

Punjab Assistant Advocate General Anees Ali Hashmi told the court that the Government of Punjab is looking to form legislation to stop wastage of water in the province.

Before adjourning the case till next hearing, the court also instructed the authorities concerned to submit a detailed report on water usage in all housing societies in Lahore.
