Gujranwala: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has allowed the district council to submit a PKR 700 million development scheme tender, a news source reported. The local government had passed orders for the stoppage of the uplift scheme, upon which the Gujranwala District Council petitioned the court.
According to details, the district council had approved the PKR 700 million project during the final months of the previous government’s tenure; which the current government had stopped.
According to District Council Chairman Mazgar Qayyum Nagram, High Court Justice Muazzamil Akhtar Shabbir has ordered the local government secretary to allow the district council to open the tenders.
As per reports, the current government, both in Punjab and in the Centre, chose to stop a number of unapproved projects under its austerity program – since it found itself low on funds.
