Lahore: Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Secretary Noorul-Amin Mengal approved the formulation of the master plan of 119 cities in Punjab, according to news sources. The said project is estimated to cost PKR 367 million and will be completed in two years.

Reportedly, Mr Mengal approved the project while presiding over a meeting and directed the director of the town planning to commence working on the master plan without delay. The project aims to outline the economic future of the cities, transportation planning, and city boundaries. It was also highlighted that the project will be added to the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2021-22.
Moreover, it was briefed that this land-use planning project on a tehsil level is the first of its kind. It is expected to increase the economic growth, tourism, and cultural activities of involved cities. It may be noted here that the meeting didn’t share the names of the 119 cities.

Furthermore, LG&CD Secretary also proposed the allocation of a 2% job quota to the transgender community. After approval of the said proposal, a comprehensive policy will be formulated and transgender applicants will be recruited in the local government and its sub-departments.
