Lahore: The Punjab Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Department has decided to limit the Lahore Development Authority’s jurisdiction to Lahore city, a news source reported.

Secretary Local Government Captain (retired) Saif Anjum recently forwarded a summary to this effect to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
At present, LDA’s jurisdiction also covers Kasur, Nankana Sahib, and Sheikhupura. The civic agency is empowered to develop building by-laws, master plans, as well as collect building plans’ approval fees in these areas.

Now, the LG Department has sought the chief minister’s approval with respect to limiting LDA’s powers. Secretary Anjum said that the civic agency will be allowed to operate only in Lahore city.
