Lahore: Local Government (LG) Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal has approved funds for the restoration of several historic buildings in Lahore, news sources reported. The secretary has allocated PKR 60 million for the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of Bradlaugh Hall, PKR 90 million for the rehabilitation of the area from Wazir Khan Mosque to Kucha Shah Hussain, and PKR 9 million for the rehabilitation of Mohabbat Khan’s Garden.

Furthermore, the Lahore Walled Authority said that the renovation of Moti Masjid, which took PKR 10 million and one year to complete, is now ready and open to tourists.
Moreover, during the restoration work from the courtyard of the Moti Masjid in the Shahi Qila, a Toshakhana (checkroom/treasure room) has been discovered. There are also dilapidated iron sheets on the walls of the Toshakhana, which is eight feet deep and eight feet wide.

It is assumed that the Moti Masjid has been used as a Moti temple during the Sikh era. Experts believe that this newly-unearthed toshkhana was built during this time.
