Lahore: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on Monday announced that it will disconnect the power supply connections of the illegal housing schemes, news sources reported. In this regard, the authority is working to compile a list of all the illegal housing schemes.

According to reports, LESCO would execute operations in its Northern, Central, Eastern, and Southern areas, where unlawful housing societies are supplying electricity to unapproved blocks via service cables. Furthermore, the authorities have chosen to terminate the connections of deed defaulters. In a separate development, Commissioner Lahore Captain (Retr) Muhammad Usman has instructed officials to remove all wires from Gulberg Main Boulevard. The decision was made during a meeting held for the Lahore Beautification Project. Commissioner Usman requested that authorities notify firms to take care of their lines on the major road and that if they do not, the cables blocking the roads’ landscaping would be cut.

He also stated that all cables other than power lines should be run underground. Similarly, he commanded that no building materials be placed on the road, or else the owner and the officer in charge of the area would face legal action.
