The project will be fully funded by the LESCO and will generate PKR 4.99 billion in the next five years as part of the project’s feasibility and return. As per the sources, the meters that are planned to be installed in the first quarter of 2023 will help prevent electricity theft and monitor line losses. These new smart electric metres are estimated to be useful for up to 20 years, which will further reduce replacement charges and costs. In addition to this, the meters will be temper proof which will reduce manpower consumption for meter readings. The project will be launched in a pilot phase in the next few months and then extended to the rest of the city.
