Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to follow public private partnership mode for the construction of Leh Expressway, reported a news source. The decision was taken during a meeting of Lahore Planning and Development Department, which was chaired by Pakistan Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed.
The meeting also decided that the Rawalpindi Commissioner will be the project director while RDA will be its executive agency. The meeting members also agreed on preparation of a new PC-1 for Leh Expressway. Rasheed instructed formation of a high-level steering committee to oversee project’s progress.
Furthermore, it was also agreed that a new design of the Leh Expressway connecting Sawan Adda with IJP Road will be prepared. The new design proposes commercial usage of land along the expressway to meet the construction expenditure.
The 38-kilometre long Leh Expressway will start from Channi Sher Alam Bridge and end at Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M-2’s Thalian Interchange.
