Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced its intention to award the contract for the development of the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel project by the first week of November, a news source reported. As per officials, the civic agency plans to hire a project consultant by the end of October.

The Punjab government recently issued directives to the officials concerned to expedite the work on the project, which will be constructed on a public-private partnership mode.
Previously on Friday, an RDA committee led by Rawalpindi Commissioner Saqib Zafar had opened technical bids submitted by three companies. The committee members will evaluate these bids to select a consultant. For this purpose, the next meeting is scheduled to take place on October 13.

The selection committee comprises the RDA director general, the RDA chief engineer and members of the housing, finance, and development departments of the Punjab government. The chosen consultant will be given the contract to design the structure and PC-I of the project. This process is expected to be completed within six months.

Following the completion of the PC-I, the executive will proceed to acquire land for project construction, and hire a contractor to facilitate this measure.
